Coroner will begin inquest looking into the circumstances of the deaths of Elaine and Philip Marco

The Liverpool road where a married couple died in flood water on Saturday is expected to remain closed for the foreseeable future as an inquest into their deaths is set to open.

The coroner has asked Merseyside Police to look into the circumstances leading up to the deaths and this is an investigation Liverpool City Council says it has committed to fully co-operating with. It is likely that the inquest will be opened and swiftly adjourned until a later date as the investigations into the death of the married couple continue. Questions continue to be asked over whether more could have been done to either prevent flooding in Queens Drive or warn about the dangers in the area of the road where Mr and Mrs Marco died.
