A watchdog has found that Police Scotland failed to properly handle the complaints of James McGoldrick, who was injured in an attack - before later being slapped with a recorded warning.
An East Kilbride delivery driver who told police he'd been the victim of a road rage attack says they had 'no empathy' when he called them for help.
Dad-of-two James was delivering pizza to a property in the area when he was cut off by another motorist, forcing him to sound his horn. He claims he was followed and then knocked to the ground before being repeatedly punched and kicked in the head by the raging driver.Mr McGoldrick was left furious after a police officer who showed up two weeks after the incident told him “you were in a fight mate, you only phoned 101 because you lost”.
“The investigating officer didn’t go to the house that I was attacked outside and ask the residents if they saw anything, which they had. That’s 100 per cent fact. “Instead, they only spoke to the officers who attended and not my partner and my daughter who also heard the conversation between myself and the police. I didn’t know why the officers were saying I was a willing participant in a fight when I knew I wasn’t and had been assaulted.
