Officers were called to Stoneymeadow Road this morning and the road was closed between Blantyre and East Kilbride

The alarm was raised just after 8am on Monday and Stoneymeadow Road, between Blantyre and East Kilbride, was sealed off to the public soon after.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

A police spokesperson said: "We were made aware of concern for a man in the Stoneymeadow Road area of Blantyre at 8.10am on Monday, September 4. Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.Stoneymeadow Road has now reopened. You can call The Samaritans by calling 116 123 or by visiting their website.
