Developers claim the ‘retail-led mixed use development’ will provide around 100 construction jobs per annum and create nearly 550 new jobs within the retail and food and drink sectors, following completion.

Developers behind a multi-million pound plan to build a new retail park on the outskirts of Ayr have returned to the table with a fresh set of proposals.

The site for the proposal at Corton forms part of a wider strategic plan for the south-easterly expansion of Ayr, which aims to deliver 2,700 homes in the next few years and provide “significant community facilities and services.” Now the applicants have returned and submitted a fresh application, which ‘replaces some elements’ of the consented retail floorspace on the proposed supermarket site.

In terms of the costs, the developers say: “The proposal is expected to generate a total construction value of around £17.65m, providing significant new investment to south east Ayr. It is expected that around 100 construction jobs per annum will be created over an 18 month period. The drive-thru units collectively are served by a “further 84 parking spaces” in addition to a “further 20 spaces” provided in the e-vehicle charging hub.
