Phyllis Garner was a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was well-known in Clitheroe
Phyllis Garner passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 29 at the age of 92. Phyllis was born during the time of the Great Depression and grew up in the Low Moor area of Clitheroe.
"She was well-known, because her and her friend went into town everyday, apart from Sunday," Carole said. "She used to live, for many years, on Parson Lane and that's right in the heart of the shops.An active member of the community, Phyllis was a member of the Ladies Committee of the Clitheroe Royal British Legion and for many years helped to organise locally the Poppy Appeal.
Phyllis was married to her husband Leonard and the couple had three children together, Carole, Leonard and Norman, the youngest, who passed away 21 years ago. Spending their weekends in Cumbria, Leonard would fish in the lakes, the kids enjoyed the beaches and Phyllis met her new friends and played dominos in the pub.
