Images from Shettleston street detail how the major emergency incident unfolded as 'hazardous material' found
Around 80 residents were evacuated from their homes following the incident on Altyre Street just after 5pm yesterday. Residents were taken to emergency accommodation including a rest centre at Tollcross International Swimming Centre.and ambulance services, remained at the scene overnight. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal was also in attendance to establish the nature of the materials.
Chief Superintendent Alan Waddell said: “Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing, and there will be a continued police presence in the area. We are working closely with our partners. “I would like to thank residents and motorists for their patience whilst we dealt with this incident. There was no danger to the wider public.”
