A depraved monster broke into a young woman's flat as she slept before brutally raping her at knifepoint. Courtney Adams clambered in through the window of her city centre apartment before arming himself with a blade from the kitchen.
'Shut the f*** up... stop screaming or you will die' On November 28 last year, Adams tried to steal a bicycle outside Manchester Business School. Unsuccessful, he moved to a nearby car park, where he used a crowbar to break into a Range Rover. After throwing receipts of rejected transactions over a fence - which were later recovered by detectives - he made his way to Cavendish Place, on Wilmott Street, at around 5.30am.
He then raped her multiple times, telling her she would have to 'use her body if she did not prove she had any cash'. Despite her screaming in pain, Adams strangled her and hissed: "Shut the f*** up... stop screaming or you will die." 'I was ashamed and embarrassed to tell my parents I was raped' In a statement, the woman spoke of her trauma - from her painful injuries to the horrific psychological impact the attack had. She said she left Manchester as she was too scared to stay at the flat.
'You are a dangerous man' Jailing Adams, who was said to have taken heroin, cannabis and crack cocaine at the time, Recorder Reid said: "You raped her in response to her perceived non-compliance and you used violence towards her to gain power over her. You are a dangerous man."
