The victim was just 11 when he was indecently assaulted
The depraved sexual abuse of a young boy at the hands of the shamed John Chambers, took his victim to the brink of suicide. He wrote in a statement, as Chambers was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court, how he had to "dig deep" and of his tough journey - becoming clean and drug-free - but how the abuse had changed and ruined his life.
Not only did Chambers abuse him - but former Paper Lace roadie and ex-partner of Chambers, Andrew Polkey, 56, previously of Glade Hill Road, Arnold, did also. He was jailed on Wednesday to 13 years in prison and will sign the sex offenders' register and be on a sexual harm prevention order for life.
"I'm now 37. I was 11 when I was first abused. The abuse changed my life, and Chambers and Polkey are responsible for that. I would be in the gutter if I hadn't come forward". Polkey's second victim said: "Mentally and emotionally this has torn me apart."
