Proposals for new homes in Cononley are recommended for approval despite affordability concerns.
Plans to build 25 homes in a North Yorkshire village have been recommended for approval ahead of a planning meeting next week.
North Yorkshire Council's Skipton and Ripon planning committee will meet on Tuesday to consider an application for the development in Cononley.This was after the developer said it would not be financially viable to include any affordable homes. Local residents had expressed concerns that many young people had been priced out of living in the village where they had grown up, a meeting was told.
However, an updated viability report from the developer said it was unable to provide any financial contributions towards affordable housing provision.A report by officers said that the 30% affordability quota target must be "realistic" and should not deter developers from building new homes.The site would be accessed directly off Meadow Close via a new junction
The developer has also submitted slightly amended plans for the scheme and would pay £84,000 towards public open space and £182,000 for local schools, according to theThe meeting will take place at the council offices on Belle Vue Square in Skipton next Tuesday at 14:00 GMT.
