An Arsenal statement said: “We are all shocked to hear the dreadful news about the stabbing in Italy, which has put a number of people in hospital including our on-loan centre-back Pablo Mari. “We have been in contact with Pablo’s agent who has told us he’s in hospital and is not seriously hurt.Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager, added: “I’ve just found out. We’ve been in touch with his relatives. He’s in hospital but seems to be OK. We’re having a briefing now. We’ll be in touch and hopefully, he will be OK.”
A 46-year-old man is reported to have started stabbing customers, including Mari, injuring five, with two thought to have been seriously injured.Mari signed for Arsenal in 2020 after spending the first part of that year on loan at the club. He went on to make 12 Premier League appearances but has spent the majority of this calendar year out on loan, first at Udinese and now at Monza.
