It's time to invest in some portable cutlery.
According to the budget supermarket, this will result in a reduction of 10.5 million wooden forks in salads and pasta bowls.The move will help Aldi make a ‘significant reduction’ on single use items.
Luke Emery, plastics and packaging director at Aldi, said: ‘At Aldi, we are constantly reviewing ways to become more environmentally friendly, and this is another positive change to help us make a difference. ‘This will result in a significant reduction in single use materials and help customers to make more environmentally friendly choices.’Aldi recently switched to colourless milk caps to improve the recyclability of the bottles and is currently trialling vacuum-packed beef mince in select stores across Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, the West Midlands and Worcestershire.
