There are so many opinions as to what makes a perfect scone
Food trends come and go but there's one sweet treat that never goes out of fashion - the humble scone. In fact, the first mention of a scone dates back to the 1500s.
One of the perks of my job is being invited to try new or improved products. When M&S invited me to try their new bigger and better scones in the cafe it was an offer I couldn't refuse. The scones are baked daily - a stale offering is woeful. They're also 10 percent bigger, and here's the good news, that's at no extra cost so you get even more bang for your buck.
Bypassing the plain scones, I went for a fruity one and instead of jam and cream opted for butter so I could properly taste the product in question. There was a good amount of plump sultanas and currants and the glaze on top gave it an inviting golden colour.
