Sara Aziz embraced her 'inner girl power' by deciding to single-handedly shift the old couch from her first-floor lounge down the stairs
A woman who thought she 'didn't need no man' to help her move her sofa had to be rescued by firefighters when she was pinned under it for 90 minutes - thanks to her Crocs. of her maisonette to be picked up for skip collection.
But after waiting more than an hour for someone to come to her aid, a red-faced Sara called 999 who dispatched an ambulance and fire crew to help. A hilarious selfie shows Sara stuck under the sofa as she desperately waited for help to arrive. "I was wearing my silver glittery Crocs at the time, they're one of my favourite kinds of shoes to wear."I go everywhere in these they're like my staple shoes because they're so comfy. I thought 'You know what? I can do this, I'm an adult, I don't need no man, girl power' kind of thing.
"I had my phone in my bra, which I was so bloody happy about. I rang my dad and my sister. My dad said 'yeah I'm on my way', an hour passed and I was like 'where the hell is he?' He was doing his daily shopping in Tesco. Sara said: "When they lifted the sofa off me I walked back up the stairs so they could get rid of the sofa. I took the picture of the fireman on the stairs as I knew my sisters wouldn't believe it - and I thought he was quite handsome.The second-hand sofa, picked up on Facebook last year, is now chopped up in Sara's garden awaiting skip collection. Sara said: "It was quite frightening to be pinned under the sofa, that's why I had a little panic attack.
