That poor woman
A woman who was trapped in a violent and abusive relationship used a secret code word to warn her family she was in danger.
Ms Forsythe, prosecuting, said during their relationship Kirkham threatened to kill and stab his partner, warning her that even if she called the police, he could kill her before they arrived. He held a lighter to the boiler, threatening to kill them all and said he would call social services to have their son removed from his mother.
However two weeks later, Kirkham called and said he had been attending anger management and the pair rekindled their relationship. However before long the abuse started again, Ms Forsythe said. On one occasion Kirkham threw laundry detergent in the woman's eyes, leaving her in agonising pain. He was found when he turned up at a family member's house and they called the police, who took him back into custody.
"If my son cries for more than a few minutes I get anxious. I can hear Kane telling me I am a terrible mother and social services will have him taken away from me." "I have realised my crimes are completely unacceptable and I should be held accountable. Since coming to prison I have realised my lifestyle and the bad decisions I have been making. I don't want to continue.
