This news comes as temperatures across the country this summer didn't peak past 40C like they did in 2022, despite the mercury in June 2023 being the hottest ever to be recorded. However, the Met Office's verdict doesn't seem hopeful about hot weather in the UK in the coming weeks. The Met Office said: "Temperatures are likely to be near average, although increasing slightly in sunnier spells, compared to previous days.
