Researchers in Edinburgh say they are getting closer to creating a portable version of the machine.

Researchers hope to produce a device the size of a backpack so patients can have more continuous treatment.Dialysis is a procedure to remove waste products and excess fluid from the blood when the kidneys stop working properly.I've cut out energy drinks now mum's given me a kidney "I'm lucky that I can still work from the hospital on my laptop but I can't go on holiday because it's too much hassle," he said.Mr Rose described his current treatment plan as "gruelling".
Current haemodialysis machines require many litres of ultrapure water to remove toxins from the blood, mimicking kidney function. "The treatment which is currently carried out mostly in the hospitals or even at home is very disruptive for the lives of patients," Prof De Angelis said.
