“A lady came along to one of our print workshops and had a lovely day, she chatted with her friend she came with, had a really nice productive day and enjoyed making. She went off and enjoyed shopping in Preston and popped back in and she’d actually gone out to buy the materials that we used in the class so that she could continue this project at home myself.
“It’s important for us and it’s important for the whole world that we think carefully about the materials that we’re using and how we use them,” says Norma. “We need to think about how we use new materials and use them carefully, but also think about how we can reuse things that have had a life before.”Products available to buy have been made using recycled materials. “So, we’ve got a crochet creative who makes things using old t-shirts. They cut up old t-shirts to make yarn and that yarn is then crocheted into useful objects. It’s thinking about how we can repurpose and reuse things so that we’re not using new materials all the time. “All we ask is that people book onto the workshops via Eventbrite prior to coming along,” says Norma. “Even if the workshop being offered is free, we would like people to book online.”The workshops are running Thursday – Sunday, until Thursday 17th September, with two sessions running per day. After this, The Creative Principle would like to secure a base in the centre of Preston, where they could run workshops from.
