The double-decker bus burst into flames opposite Lime Street station
Police have confirmed they've received no reports of a fire involving a Stagecoach bus being a terrorist incident.
One man, who works in a corner shop on the road, said he was working on the till when he noticed a fire had started on the back seats of the top deck of the bus.He said: "I saw people all running away and running off and around the bus. The flames slowly came forwards on the top deck and there was smoke everywhere. The lady who was driving the bus ran back and did one last check over of the bus before carrying something away with her. It was really scary.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "At around 6.30pm officers were called to a report of a fire on a bus on Lime Street. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire on the bus.
