A Pentagon source told i the US is looking into the possibility that Major General Andrey Averyanov may have headed a joint Moscow intelligence taskforce to take down Prigozhin and Wagner’s top command
The Federal Security Service may also have been part of a multi-agency operation, along with Moscow’s Foreign Intelligence Service, according to one former aide to Putin.
Mr Gallyamov worked in the Kremlin during several alleged murders of Putin critics, including journalist Natalia Estemirova and human rights lawyer Stanislav Markelov in 2009, the poisoning in London of Alexander Litvinenko in 2006, and the assassination of liberal Russian politician Sergei Yushenkov in 2003.
“Putin can set up intra-agency groups for such operations, which will include generals from all these security services.”
