Nine manufacturers have rolled out a plan to make certain hobs safe which have been identified as presenting a serious risk
The government issued the guidance following a review into defective gas hobs after an explosion at Eckington Riverside Caravan Park in Pershore earlier this year. The investigation by Office for Product Safety and Standards into defective gas hobs found nine gas hob manufacturers in the UK have rolled out an action plan to make certain hobs safe which have been identified as presenting a serious risk of poisoning, burns or gas explosion and/or fire.
The Public Health Advisor at Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents said he is concerned the defective gas hobs may be in homes across the country. Ashley Martin said: "We urge people to visit the government web page to see if their appliance is affected and to follow the instructions regarding contacting the manufacturers if their product is listed.
