The emergency closure of Brabyns Brow in Marple has caused huge congestion
A Stockport road where a closure has caused traffic chaos is set to re-open on this weekend. Gas network firm Cadent closed Brabyns Brow in Marple on Tuesday night to carry out emergency work to fix a gas leak.
It meant they had to dig a huge hole in the road and completely close it between Arkwright Road and Winnington Road. Diversions are in place and it has resulted in long delays - particularly at rush hour.Cadent has apologised for the disruption, which bosses conceded 'couldn't have come at a worse time' during the first week of the new school year.
Traffic management including temporary lights will still remain in place into next week as they carry out other repairs in the area.
