The Dutch whistler has come under criticism for ruling out Scott McTominay's goal in Seville.
Under-fire Serdar Gozubuyuk DOES appear to signal for offside to disallow Scotland 's 'goal' against Spain after theories circling online that the man in the middle signalled for a foul.
The man in the middle left a nation raging after he was sent to the video monitor to review Scott McTominay 's stunner for Jack Hendry's role as he stood in front of goalkeeper Unai Simon as the ball sailed into the net. Gozubuyuk was instructed to the side of the pitch in Seville's Olympic Stadium and it appeared he chalked the goal off for a foul on Hendry - with the broadcast TV footage claiming that was the official reason UEFA shared with them.
But there was a quick-fire U-turn on the decision from European football's governing body moved to insist Hendry was in fact offside and was deemed to be interfering with play before the Manchester United star found the net. And now Gozubuyuk's hand gesture has been put in focus on social media. The Dutchman appears to point to the halfway line which indicates a foul from Hendry. If it was offside, the grade one UEFA whistler would have raised his hand in the air.
However, a new clip appears to show the whistler DOES raises his hand to signal offside before restarting the match. On the edge of the box after checking the monitor, he signals to Simon that the decision is for an Indirect free-kick for a Scotland player standing in an offside position.
