Too many Tory MPs no longer trust Ms Truss’s judgement, meaning she will struggle to achieve her radical plans to drive economic growth, like planning reform. Free market supporters despair: she has done their cause a great disservice. At the IMF, Egyptian delegates have apparently been joking that their pound has better prospects.
She is becoming a zombie prime minister, not long after the last one was evicted. One tabloid newspaper has launched a, asking whether the PM can outlive the vegetable. She dug herself a deeper hole at Friday’s press conference, which lasted eight minutes. The PM gave identikit answers to four questions before suddenly exiting, looking shaken.
