The stunning 'alien space ship' in Lancashire people are travelling from miles around to see
Have aliens landed? It's not often you're on a brisk walk in the Haslingden hills and you spot what appears to be a UFO, hovering happily in the distance.
The unusual structure is part of East Lancashire's Panopticon Artwork sculpture trail, which includes the Singing Ringing Tree in Burnley. By day, the 'Lancashire UFO' looms large on the horizon and by night, it is transformed by the glow of 500 LED lights, creating an other-worldly effect. Designed by architect John Kennedy, the fascinating artwork is 59-foot in diameter and is made of circular steel, with a Perspex lattice-style design balanced on three solid metal legs. Autumn and winter are ideal times to for families to visit the Halo as darkness falls earlier, making it possible to see it in daylight and also lit up at night within the same walk, without visiting too late.
