The shop is stronger than ever
The owner of a body piercing shop has told how despite the ‘trials and tribulations’ of having to close through lockdown, the shop is stronger than ever. Skinderella, on Derby Road in Stapleford, was named Nottingham's best independent shop in a poll of our readers.
Keira, who has over 16 years experience as a body piercer, said: “We’re all friendly here and use the highest grade jewellery. It’s nice to be nice, some people go to a piercer with questions and they get ignored, we don’t and can answer anything about aftercare.”She told how some people come for their first piercing or have a phobia of needles. Kiera added: “When anyone’s scared, we talk to them, we can get pushy parents but we ignore them and talk to the child.
Working alongside Kiera are two other piercers, a receptionist and Kiera rents her back room out to a beauty therapist. She said she has a 'motherly' approach. Prices include £20 a lobe and there are surprise piercings which you can choose from for £25 for those who are indecisive. Keira continued: “There have been trials and tribulations, throughout all the lockdowns we were shut for 42 weeks. I constantly had people asking if I do mobile or if they could come to my house but the answer was, no.
