A quiet hero has already emerged this fashion month: loungewear.
. At first glance, they looked as comfy and casual as the loungewear that many relied on during lockdown. But upon closer look, it became obvious that these weren’t a regular throw-on-and-go essential: Dojaka added Noughties-inspired visible thong detailing on the hips, making them truly her own. What’s more, the glorified trackies were worn with a sheer bodysuit and bra – transforming them into something that could be dancefloor-appropriate, rather than strictly for lounging.
While they’ve made an increased appearance on the runways this season, elevated trackpants have long been a staple for’s Sarah Harris. “It’s true, I can’t resist the appeal of a good sweatpant,” she explains, revealing her favourite styles are by Alex Eagle Sporting Club – “I love them especially in white or bone” – which she wears with Birkenstocks or Nike Challenger sneakers for day, and dresses up with a great blazer or tailored overcoat and some “good jewellery”.
