Football Insider has been told by sources that Swansea City and Birmingham City are battling it out to sign ex-Derby County defender Lee Buchanan.

The 22-year-old left Derby last summer and joined German club Werder Bremen despite attracting interest from a number of English clubs. Swansea and Birmingham are both looking to bolster their left-back options this summer and they are ready to offer Buchanan a return to the EFL from Germany. The left-back made 23 appearances in all competitions for Bremen last season, but only three of them came as a starter.thBuchanan scored his first goal for Bremen in a dramatic 3–2 win at Borussia Dortmund last August.
