Strictly's John Whaite secretly split from fiance after he 'fell in love' with Johannes Radebe
Strictly star John Whaite has admitted he split from his fiancé after he fell “in love” with pro dancer Johannes Radebe.
Tongues wagged at the time about the obvious chemistry between the pair due to the long-running “curse” of the programme, which has seen dozens of celebrities break up with their other halves due to the time spent apart to focus on the show. John told The Times: “I fell in love with him [Johannes]. I can't speak for him – because I'm not allowed to, legally – but it felt like there was love there. We had such similar stories growing up; the homophobia, the bullying, coming out, coming to terms with our sexuality, as any queer kid would."John revealed that after Strictly, Paul moved back in with his parents while he sat “on the patio, drinking bottle after bottle of sauvignon blanc".
The 'Strictly curse' refers to break ups after contestants and professional dance partners hit it off.
