Dramatic videos showed the blaze involving a double-decker bus
near to Lime Street station on Friday, August 25. Police and fire crews were called to the scene at 6.30pm and road closures were put in place on Lime Street, Hanover Street, Gradwell Street and Great Charlotte Street.
"Our driver safely evacuated all passengers from the vehicle and there were no reported injuries. Safety is our number one priority, and a full investigation into the cause of this incident is underway." He said: "I saw people all running away and running off and around the bus. The flames slowly came forwards on the top deck and there was smoke everywhere. The lady who was driving the bus ran back and did one last check over of the bus before carrying something away with her. It was really scary.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "At around 6.30pm officers were called to a report of a fire on a bus on Lime Street. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire on the bus.
