Consultation will be held on plans to deal with “excessive” traffic in East Renfrewshire which could include speed limit reductions.
Zones are proposed to manage “unnecessary through traffic”, with a focus on residential areas and around schools.
“It is a real hot topic for people,” he added. “It’s great to see that we’ve got a means of engaging on a methodical basis with residents to deal with issues that they are facing.” Officials have identified 15 zones — three per council ward — for the first year. They will focus on areas where there have been complaints from residents.
She added: “In recent years, the road and transportation service have received a growing number of queries and complaints regarding excessive traffic volumes and vehicle speed in residential areas, especially those that are used locally as rat runs.
