EXCLUSIVE: Gerry Campbell, who was wrongly sacked in 2019, is calling for an apology from the former SNP administration in South Lanarkshire over his dismissal.

An ex-council worker awarded £800,000 over unfair dismissal has demanded an SNP by-election candidate support an apology for his “disgraceful” treatment.

Judge Mary Kearns said there were “no reasonable grounds” for the sacking and the decision was “based on obvious inconsistencies, errors and wrong assumptions”. Loudon is going head to head with Labour’s Michael Shanks in the race to succeed disgraced Margaret Ferrier. "With all of the information relating to the case now in the public domain, Katy Loudon must acknowledge the decisions taken by her political colleagues John Ross and Maureen Chalmers and the unnecessary costs to rate payers of South Lanarkshire of over £1m.

The judge added that the disciplinary panel which dismissed him “failed to carry out a reasonable investigation and used a procedure that was manifestly biased”.
