The Labour by-election candidate for Rutherglen and Hamilton West has slammed his SNP counterpart for backing calls for residents in the area to pay to commute into Glasgow City Centre.

“It is clear that action needs to be taken to ensure clean air in our towns and cities but it needs investment in reliable, regular and affordable public transport - which is what makes the failure of the SNP government to back better buses for this constituency even more unacceptable. “From a £100 water bill rebate to help with mortgages and travel costs, Scottish Labour will stand up for the people of this area while the SNP continue to let them down.
