Shoppers in Chilwell have agreed it ‘makes sense’ for a Lidl in the area to relocate. The Lidl at the West Point Shopping Centre is up for sale for £1.5 million.
All staff at the new Lidl in Long Eaton will relocated. In Chilwell, shoppers spoke about what they'd like to see replace the shop. Annie Hart, 35, said: “It’s hard because the Chilwell retail park isn’t far at all.“I think a lot of people would want to see another supermarket. I come in here quite a bit and see the same faces regularly. I think that maybe a restaurant might go down well, there’s still a Tesco Express so people can go shopping.
Sam Greene, 31 said: “I’ve seen a lot of those game shops are becoming popular at the moment - maybe something like that will come here. Or a baby clothes shop, that sells toys as well as clothes, my wife is always crying out for those kinds of things.” “Even though this shopping square is handy and people do use it if one of the shops closed down or relocated it isn’t the end of the world because the area in general, I think, has a lot.”
