Arfield says criticism of Tavernier, Goldson and Barisic's mentality is 'extremely unfair' after latest Celtic defeat.
The Light Blues back line of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and Borna Barisic, although the Croat missed out through injury against Celtic on Sunday, have been questioned in the early part of the season after Michael Beale's side slipped four points their rivals following the 1-0 Old Firm derby defeat at Ibrox. The long-serving defenders have been with the club for eight years and five years respectively, but delivered just two trophies in that time.
"It's extremely unfair," he told the Athletic. "Mentality can come in many ways. Tav has played more than 400 games and never misses anything. Talk about mentality as a professional, how many would crumble at just the thought of playing in front of 50,000? It's a completely different thing. If you're putting yourself on the line every time, then sometimes you're going to lose.
