The Treasury has promised that schools with dangerous RAAC concrete will have the funding they need to do urgent repairs, but not wider refurbishment work
to avoid any danger that classrooms could collapse in the imminent future.
She told the House of Commons: “Every year we get capital budgets, and we are investing significantly in our schools. Overall the capital budget in the 2021 spending review is £19bn of which £7bn is allocated to 23/24. But clearly when we come to the next phase, which is looking at the rebuilding of our schools, we have some allocations to rebuild some of our schools but we will also be looking in detail at what more will be required then.
