Graham was arrested after experiencing a “medical episode” that “resulted in him becoming disoriented,” the team said last month.
A spokesperson for the Orange County District Attorney’s office told multiple outlets Thursday that charges are not being pursued because of “insufficient evidence.”Graham was arrested Aug. 18 after experiencing a “medical episode” that “resulted in him becoming disoriented,” the Saints said in a statement at the time.
The Newport Beach Police Department responded to a call about “a suspicious person who was observed to be acting erratically,” later identified as Graham, a spokesperson for the department said. He was taken into custody on suspicion of being under the influence of a narcotic as well as delaying and obstructing a police officer.
Graham, 36, was taken to a hospital for evaluation, where he was met by team doctor John Amoss, the Saints said. Amoss believed Graham likely suffered a seizure. He was released from the hospital and rejoined the team the next day. “It’s kind of a personal health thing and I’m just going to keep it to myself,” Graham told reporters Thursday. “I’ll be fine though. … Just looking forward to putting it behind me.”
Graham also thanked the police for their response to the incident. Asked whether there were any pending charges against him, he said: “Right now we’re just dealing with all that personally.”
