Drinkers can choose from more than 900 beers and ciders, plus there's food stalls and live music
Rain didn't stop play as the 2023 Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival got off to a wet start. Thousands of drinkers will be pouring through the doors over the next four days to sample some of the country's best brews - including many close to home.
What are the must-drink beers or is it impossible to say? Andrew said: "It's too complex. It's the age-old problem of saying what's your favourite beer? My favourite beer would be different from everybody else's. What is really encouraging is having the full beer list on the website means people either print it off or come along and say I've had a look, I'd like to buy 562, please.
"What we have managed to try and do here at Trent Bridge is to create some of that - at the castle you could wander off and suddenly find the village area and more bars. Here when you go through what we call the undercroft you then discover there's two more bars and music further on, which we didn't have previously."
On her first visit, Lucy Clarke, from Chapter Brewery in Runcorn, near Liverpool, was sampling Castle Rock's Preservation, a red IPA. She said: "It's delicious. It's my favourite style of beer. I love Castle Rock. "We've already had two sales early doors. It's a massively growing trend within a lot of bars - the bigger the offering of alcohol-free makes it much more appealing for a larger group of people because there's always going to be someone driving or having a bit of a health kick."
