Concerned residents in an area which has witnessed two deliberate fires at a restaurant in little over a month are asking emergency services and councillors to ensure “all is being done to bring these events to an end”.

“Since the recent decision to withdraw second appliances from multiple stations including Hamilton, we have also engaged with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to question how they plan to maintain appropriate levels of availability and response times, given this seemingly obvious reduction in service for their significant area of responsibility.
A Police Scotland spokesperson told Lanarkshire Live: “Around 12.25am on Monday, August 28, police were called to the Silverwells Crescent area of Bothwell following a report of a fire at a premises.Nobody was injured in either incident.
