Plans have been submitted for the full refurbishment of The Inn for a Penny by pub chain Greene King
A Nottinghamshire pub will be renovated and reopened with a "stunning" new garden and play area, its owner has said. Plans have been submitted by pub chain Greene King for the full refurbishment of The Inn for a Penny in Burton Road, Carlton.
Inside there will be different spaces marked out for pub sports, socialising, dining and live acts, with the venue becoming part of the company's Hive Pubs brand. The pub will be fully redecorated, with new lighting, flooring and ornaments being fitted. According to Greene King, TV screens will be "strategically placed" to ensure the best viewing experience for spectators without dominating the rest of the pub. The revamped garden will feature a covered pergola, with loose and fixed seating, as well as a children's play area. The refurbishment will also improve the look of the pub with all new signage, lighting and planting.
"We’re looking forward to opening this great community pub under the Hive Pubs umbrella, with classic pub food, an excellent drinks range, entertainment and live sport, towards the end of this year.” Hive Pubs is a Greene King franchise in which community pubs are run by franchisees who have local knowledge and experience of managing a pub. The planning application is pending consideration by Gedling Borough Council.
