Officers are now trying to find witnesses
A man remains in hospital with ‘life-threatening injuries’ following a stabbing in the city centre earlier this week.
Officers are now promising more boots on the ground in Piccadilly Basin, and are following lines of enquiry in relation to six men who were believed to be at the scene at the time.Initially, police arrested three men, but two have been released without charge and the third, a 21-year-old man, has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
He said: "This incident occurred at a place where there would have been a lot of footfall, due to it being school summer holidays and after work for most people. There were a lot of people out walking and shopping, and the canal bridge heading towards the Northern Quarter was busy. “One man has sustained extremely serious, life-changing injuries, and we have to find the people responsible for his attempted murder. This is an extremely serious incident and the Major Incident Team are continuing to work tirelessly to investigate.
