Seven Scottish towns will each receive funding as part of long-term Levelling Up investment.

Criticism has been directed at the UK Government after Renfrewshire towns missed out on a new multi-million-pound cash injection.

“In what was clearly a Tory conference announcement ploy, they have taken the money from previous poverty-related funds and deprived Renfrewshire communities of much-needed cash. The SNP is delivering a bold regeneration plan for Paisley and the administration in Renfrewshire Council has been putting our dynamic plans into effect, with a culture-led regeneration scheme, town hall refurbishment, the museum project and the library.

The council previously received £38.7m from the Levelling Up fund to improve travel links between Paisley town centre and the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland. But it was unsuccessful in its bid for £19m to turn the old police station and neighbouring swimming baths in Renfrew into a thriving community hub.

The dedicated team of experienced journalists, responsible for the publication of the award-winning Express, will focus on breaking news, day and night, across Renfrewshire’s towns and villages.
