Ronnie, who supports people with addiction at charity With You, spoke out as he welcomed the opening of the safe consumption room in Glasgow.
A drug recovery worker from Paisley says Scotland’s first overdose prevention room may help others to overcome a crippling addiction just like him.
Ronnie himself used drugs for more than 30 years before going into residential rehabilitation and overcoming his challenges. The dedicated team of experienced journalists, responsible for the publication of the award-winning Express, will focus on breaking news, day and night, across Renfrewshire’s towns and villages.
He explains: “It will provide a warm, clean space for people who would otherwise be using – and dying – in the streets or in car parks. I think it will help a lot of people Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership has already said it is keeping a watchful eye on the roll out of the consumption room in Glasgow and how effective it is in supporting some of the city’s most vulnerable people.
The Harm Reduction Response Team , is a mobile harm reduction service which engages with patients in their own communities.
