Latest Nottingham Forest news as Steve Cooper's Reds reflect on positive start to Premier League season
It has been a positive start to the season for Nottingham Forest, with the feeling there is plenty more still to come.
Squad list A busy deadline day saw Forest bring in seven new additions, taking their overall number of summer signings to 13. They now have to whittle down their squad to the 25-man list required in accordance with Premier League rules - and it looks like some players won’t quite make the cut. Leaving out two goalkeepers, Shelvey, Arter and Dennis would leave one more to miss out. Discounting the keepers and all of the summer signings, Forest would have to choose one from Joe Worrall, Scott McKenna, Giulian Biancone, Moussa Niakhate, Neco Williams, Harry Toffolo, Willy Boly, Serge Aurier, Felipe, Ryan Yates, Orel Mangala, Cheikhou Kouyate, Morgan Gibbs-White, Danilo, Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood to leave off the list.
There will be plenty of competition for a place in the back line once the summer signings have been integrated and the likes of Niakhate and Felipe are fully fit. Even more so when you factor in Cooper is keen to be flexible with his formations and switch to a back four on occasions. Worrall and Boly are doing their best to keep their shirts, however - likewise McKenna, who also did very well against the Blues.
“There is a family instinct at Forest, as there is at Union, so it’s part of the same process. It shows that as long as you have the right set-up and the right plan, you can do anything in football.”
