Sad news for fans of the fireworks!
Plans to host Glasgow's hugely popular Bonfire Night celebration event have been shelved indefinitely, it's been confirmed.
Organisers Glasgow Life has stated that there are no plans for the popular fireworks display at Glasgow Green to go ahead this year. The November fifth celebrations at Glasgow Green have been missed for the last three years and it was hoped the popular spectacle would make a return for 2023. However, as well as confirming this year's event won't go ahead, the charity has since confirmed there are no plans for it to go ahead "in the future" either.
A spokesperson for Glasgow Life said: “In recent years we have focussed on delivery of winter and Christmas entertainment aimed at attracting visitors who will also enjoy Glasgow’s shopping, entertainment and nightlife sectors across several weeks in the lead-up to and during the festive period."We haven’t staged a fireworks event in recent years and have no current plan to do so this year or in the future.
