Utterly heartbreaking
A heartbroken mum paid tribute in court to her "soulmate" and their "miracle" son who both died in a horrific crash. Caroline Woodcock lost husband John Woodcock, 44, of Sutton-in-Ashfield and their son Lewis, 2, when a speeding driver crashed into them.
Mrs Woodcock described her little boy in a victim impact statement as "gorgeous" and how her whole life "has gone" in losing her husband, best friend and soulmate. "My beautiful boy, Lewis, has gone", she said through tears and sobs.She said Lewis was "my miracle baby" - as she and her husband did not think they could have children - "12 years down the line and now he is gone", she said of her husband.
By the time of the crash with Mr Woodcock's car, he was either determined he was going to cut a corner or he simply lost control because of the speed of his car. His Audi was on the wrong side of the road. Mr Woodcock was unconscious in his Peugeot, which had to be cut open by firefighters. With his son, they were taken to Kings Mill Hospital, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
