The collision on Amounderness Way in Thornton Cleveleys involved two vehicles, with one casualty having to be freed by fire crews
Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to Amounderness Way in Thornton Cleveleys shortly before 6pm last night . Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said two crews from Bispham and Fleetwood attended the incident involving two vehicles.
One casualty was trapped inside a vehicle and had to be freed by firefighters. The fire service trauma technician also assessed and administered first aid to 'multiple casualties', LFRS said.Pictures from the scene showed the road was blocked heading towards the Morrisons roundabout on Amounderness Way. One of the vehicles was seen surrounded by emergency services with a damaged bonnet while debris was left on the road.
LFRS said their crews passed the casualties into the care of North West Ambulance Service and made the vehicles safe. They were at the scene for around 80 minutes. In a statement, LFRS said: "Two fire engines from Bispham and Fleetwood attended a road traffic collision on Amounderness Way, Thornton Cleveleys. This collision involved two vehicles, with one casualty trapped in a vehicle.
"Fire crews successfully extricated the trapped casualty, and the fire service trauma technician assessed and administered first aid to multiple casualties. The fire crews then passed the casualties into the care of ambulance crews and made the vehicles safe.LancsLive has contacted Lancashire Constabulary and North West Ambulance Service for comment.
