Sir Michael Parkinson repaired his friendship with Sir Billy Connolly after unknowingly offending the iconic comedian.

Sir Michael Parkinson said he felt lucky to repair his friendship with Sir Bill Connolly prior to his death after the pair had a falling out.

Connolly, 80, has suffered from Parkinson's disease since 2013 and took offence to the comment, which led to tensions between the two old friends. Parkinson, who the comedian fondly nicknamed 'Parky', also seemed to butt heads with Billy's wife, Pamela Stephenson. "It was the observation of a friend to another friend. It was an awards thing. He was on heavy medication and it got to the stage I was with him. And he made a very softly spoken speech.
