Incredibly sad - our thoughts are with his friends and family
A grieving wife said she wishes her husband would have spent time with family before he sadly died in "so much pain" in hospital. Julie Ward-Daft is hoping to learn more about her husband's death in an inquest which was opened on Friday, July 21.
A post-mortem examination was carried out and found a provisional cause of death. Coroner Laurinda Bower said that Mr David-Daft had a form of rectal cancer which travels to other parts of the body. He also suffered a heart failure to his left ventricle. After hearing the evidence, Ms Ward-Daft has shared her husband's heartbreaking last words before passing away. "I got there ten minutes before he passed away," she told the inquest.
She told the hearing that had her husband have a scan done earlier, he would have died at home and spent time with his family. "I have worked for the trust so it is hard for me," she added.
