Michael Kohlhof fought off the infection for 11 days with various medications before medics were forced to amputate his limbs
A man was forced to have his hands and feet chopped off in a frantic bid to save his life after catching a deadly Victorian disease.
The 35-year-old Texan managed to fight off the infection for 11 days with various medications but medics were later forced to perform the amputations, the Mirror reports. It’s not currently known how or where Michael was bitten but his family have launched a GoFundMe page to try and raise money to cover his eye-watering medical bills. They are hoping to raise £280,000 and have so far reached around £50,000 of that.
"But he shouldn't have to worry about the financial pain. The more I research, the more I'm astonished at what can be done, but it's always at a cost."
