RNLI Blackpool responded to two call outs within a matter of minutes
A huge emergency search was launched after reports of children in difficulty in the sea in Blackpool, with another man rescued from the waters.
RNLI Blackpool received the call at 7.34pm on Saturday that there were children in difficulty in the water near South Pier. An emergency search was launched and volunteers searched the area, however, they found nothing. While returning back to the station, a second call was received that a person was in the sea close to North Pier. The crew quickly located the casualty and were able to safely bring them back to shore.A spokesperson for RNLI Blackpool said: "Our RNLI Blackpool volunteers were called out at 7.34pm to reports of children in difficulty in the sea near South Pier. The Atlantic 85 was launched and after searching the area, the all clear was given with all in order.
" Whilst returning to Station at 8.16pm, a second call of a person in the sea close to North Pier in difficulty. Blackpool RNLI volunteer Atlantic 85 crew responded immediately. The person was located and rescued from the sea by the lifeboat crew, brought to shore at the Lifeboat Station, where he was handed to the care of the North West Ambulance Service."
